Counselling

 

Meg Corser is our practice counsellor. If you feel you would like a referral please speak to your doctor.

 

District Nurses

 

Community Nurses based at Doddington Hospital, Chatteris are attached to George Clare Surgery. They can be contacted on 01354 644370 (answerphone facility)

 

Health Visiting

 

Health Visitors based at Doddington Hospital visit the George Clare Surgery and can be contacted on 01354 644368 or 01354 644369 (answerphone facility). The service offers advice and support to every family with a pre-school child under 5 years of age and is involved with the Child Health Surveillance Programme, which offers a range of contacts including home visits and health development checks.

 

Availability of consultations with a Health Visitor and details of drop-in clinics can be obtained by contacting the telephone number quoted above.

 

Midwives

 

Direct line 01354 644366 (answerphone facility). Midwives are currently based at The Childrens Centre, Larham Way, Chatteris, as part of the Fenland Midwifery team attached to Hinchingbrooke Hospital, Huntingdon. They work closely with the practice GPs and currently provide full antenatal care to approximately 100 women per year.

 

Maternity bookings will be done at The Childrens Centre and from then on the care is regular but flexible. Women may choose to have their baby at the Hinchingbrooke Hospital, Peterborough Maternity Hospital or the Rosie Unit in Cambridge.

 

The midwifery team offers 24 hour support for problems associated with mother and baby. Baby's care is then taken over by the Health Visitors. Postnatal care is provided at home for approximately 10 days after delivery.

 

The midwife will send out your first appointment by post.

Antenatal Education

 

Aquanatal (exercise in water) available from 14 weeks.
